Just for a moment....
Thanks.

Just to let you know I am the proud and stunned grandmother to a new baby grandson, who was born this aftrnoon, weighing in at a truly respectable 5 kilos-plus-a-bit....
That's a whoppin' eleven pounds, plus.... You'll be glad they opted for a caesarian in the end......

Only three pounds more, and he'd have weighed a stone.....

I dunno about my daughter, but I'm exhausted just thinking about it!!

All's well with everyone!

Thank you.
carry on!! :jumping:
Congratulations to you and your family!

with much metta/love,
Cal

I'll be honest...I usually find pictures of very young babies relatively uninspiring....but the thing I find so remarkable is that he really does look EXACTLY like his mum, when she was born.
You wouldn't be able to tell them apart!

unfortunately, you'll just have to take my word for it.....

My daughter is now at home, and the baby is thriving.

Actually, to begin with, it wasn't so good.
For obvious reasons, he's a 'hungry baby' and she was simply not able to physically keep up with his appetite.
Which gives lie to the fallacy that a big busty wench will have no problem providing for her bubba... My daughter is what you could term 'well endowed' but it simply didn't all come together for the baby.
She began to get ultra tired, and a little distressed, and the baby was fretful and slept fitfully, because he was so hungry.
Fortunately, it seems my daughter was surrounded by great and sympathetic midwives, who all told her the same thing:
Give it up and get him on a bottle.
This made her feel a little 'inadequate' (and any mums will recognise that feeling. That somehow, if we can't feed our own baby, we've failed). Fortunately, once she saw the sense of it (and spoke to me, whereupon I gave her my full and unconditional support) she felt a bit better.
That same night, the midwives told her to get a good night's sleep, and that THEY would deal with the baby during the night, when they started him on formula milk.
The upshot is that he's sleeping really well now, is content, and more importantly, his mum is relaxed, calm and serene.
He was, incidentally, the heaviest baby ever to be born in the hospital, and everyone and his wife came up to see him. Doctors from other departments, nurses, the cleaners....! :jumping:
And could I just point out to everyone, apparently, I am NOT a Grandma.....
I am a Glam-Ma!

(That's more like it!!)
I'm going to see them all, soon, and am really looking forward to it!
