Greetings,

This is probably as good a time as any to point out a few of the bands in this countdown are quite obscure and not particularly well known. Many of these bands never actually had any "film clips". Therefore what I can find of them on Youtube may well be limited, and the couple of tracks I find may not actually be amongst their best recordings... this is the case with Barcelona. Anyway, these two should be enough to get the idea.

Never heard of this Barcelona, but I like 'James Figurine', otherwise known as Jimmy Tamborello, or Dntel, or the other half of Postal Service. *beep beep beep* :)

Greetings Zavk,

Which I imagine is precisely why his remix of Studio Hair Gel is on Youtube, rather than the far superior original version. James Figurine was also in a band Figurine who probably would have made the Retro Rockers list if it extended to 101 bands. They were a very good synth band, I think also on the same label as Barcelona (hence the remix).

Greetings,

Unfortunately Youtube seems to have none of Boxcar's mid-90's material, so I'll have to settle for some of their late 80's tunes instead...

Does anyone want to make a bet that Pet Shop Boys is going to be # 1? Or it could be Carter USM? So which is it Retro you're taking too long to get to #1

BTW Retro what do you think of La Roux? I can't get enough of them, being I'm a big 80's synth pop fan.

Take care,
David

Greetings David,

Nice to see you drop by!

I guess you'll just have to wait and see.

As for La Roux, I certainly do like some of their songs, especially Bulletproof!

Speaking of synths and such, #70 on my list is an Irish synthpop band named after an old Human League song. These two songs are good, but not their best ones... again, their Youtube content is rather limited.

#70 Empire State Human

Hi, Retro,
There's a really obvious cheap joke about the alignment of this band's name and its position on your list but I am *not* going to make it.
So there.
