Friends:

Can the Dhamma Teaching be given in short?

Image

Yes! The Blessed Buddha once instructed his son Rahula in this way:
Having left behind desire for the five streams of simple sensual pleasure,
captivating forms, satisfying the mind, having gone forth from the house in
faith, put an end to suffering! Cultivate Noble friends, an isolated lodging,
which is remote, secluded, silent, & with little traffic. Be moderate in eating!
Do never crave neither for fine robes or foods, nor requisites, or lodging!
Do not ever return to the worldly life again. Be fully controlled regarding
the monastic discipline and the 5 sense abilities. Be completely & constantly
aware of the body as a frame of bones, skin, and flesh. By disgusted with
all in this world. Avoid beautiful objects, which provokes lust. Make mind
one-pointed, concentrated, absorbed, well focused on non-attractiveness.
Develop the signless mind. Cast out latent tendency to the conceit: "I am"!
Then by the full understanding of self-deception you will wander and dwell
stilled, in perfect peace... Sn 337-342

In the Dhamma's Presence!

Post by Bhikkhu_Samahita »

Friends:

Contemplating the Qualities of the Dhamma:

Perfectly formulated is this Buddha-Dhamma, visible right here and now,
immediately effective, timeless, inviting each & everyone to come and see
for themselves, inspect, examine and verify. Leading each and everyone
through progress towards perfection. Directly observable, experienceable
and realizable by each intelligence...

Image

When a bhikkhu is devoted to this recollection of the Dhamma, he thinks:
I never in the past met a master, who taught a law that led onward thus,
who possessed this talent, nor do I now see any such a master other than
the Blessed One. Seeing the Dhamma's special qualities in this very way,
he is respectful and deferential towards the Master. He entertains great
reverence for the Dhamma and attains the fullness of faith and insight.
He has much happiness and gladness. He conquers fear and dread.
He is able to endure pain. He comes to feel as if he were living in the
Dhamma's presence. When recollecting the Dhamma's special qualities,
dwelling in this remembrance, his body becomes as worthy of worship
as a shrine room. His mind tends towards the realization of the peerless
Dhamma. When he encounters an opportunity for transgression, then he
has vivid awareness of conscience and shame induced by recollecting the
well-regulatedness of the Dhamma. And if he penetrates no higher, he is
at least headed for a happy destiny...

Image

Now when a man is truly wise,
His constant task will surely be,
This recollection of the Dhamma,
Blessed with such mighty potency!
Vism I 218

The blessed Buddha said:
Sabbadanam dhammadanam jinati;
Sabbarasam dhammaraso jinati;
Sabbaratim dhammarati jinati;
Tanhakkhayo sabbadukkham jinati.

THE SUPREME GIFT
The gift of Dhamma surpasses all other gifts.
The taste of Truth excels all other tastes.
The joy of Understanding exceeds all other joys.
The Elimination of craving overcomes and quenches
all ill, all pain, all sorrow, and all suffering ...
Dhammapada 354

Void Ego-Absence Frees ...

Post by Bhikkhu_Samahita »

Friends:

No States have a Core, Self or Substance!

Image

The Buddha once epitomized a crucial, yet counter-intuitive fact by saying:
"Sabbe Dhamma Anatta ", which means "All states are self-&-coreless...!"

Image

This entails an absence or voidness of a stable same core in any phenomena:
Internally exists there no "self", "soul", "I", "you" "me", "agent" anywhere!
Externally exists there no "substance", "matter", or "real world" anywhere!
Mentally is there no "controller", "speaker" or "experiencer" inside in mind...
Physically is there no "reality" or "rock-solid-matter-stuff" outside in world...

Image
Both inner "EGO" & outer "SUBSTANCE" are illusionary ideas!

Buddha emphasized that release from the Ego-Substance-concept was Bliss:
"Blissful is solitude for one who is content, learned & who see the Dhamma.
More blissful is harmlessness towards all living beings without exception.
Even more blissful is freedom from any sensual urge & craving whatsoever.
Yet, the supreme bliss, is the elimination of this abysmal conceit 'I Exists'"
Udana – Inspiration: II – 1

Image
No Substantial Object exists 'Out There', nor any Subject-Ego 'In Here'!

The Blessed Buddha once said:
"In the seen is merely the process of seeing...
In the heard is merely the process of hearing...
In the sensed is merely the process of sensing...
In the thought is merely the process of thinking...
So knowing, you will not be connected 'with that'...
So disconnected you will not be absorbed 'into that'...
So neither with that, nor into that You Are Not created by that sensation!
When there is no 'You' inferred or conjectured by that very experience,
then 'You' are neither 'here', 'there', 'both', 'beyond' nor 'in between'...!

On realizing the importance of this incident the Blessed One exclaimed:
Where neither solidity, fluidity, heat nor motion find any footing,
there no sun, moon nor star ever shines. There is neither any light,
yet nor is there any darkness! When the Noble, through stilling of
all construction, through quieting of all mental formation, directly
experiences this, then is he freed from both form & formlessness,
then is he released from both pleasure and all pain ..."
Udana – Inspiration: I - 10.

Further comments and explanation here:
http://What-Buddha-Said.net/drops/II/No ... There'.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Buddha insisted on a subtle and profound quasi-pseudo-real world:
"The world is bound up by and shrouded in delusion. It appears as real and
is regarded as if it were fine! The fool bound to his illusive acquisitions,
blinded by darkness, assumes it as eternal, but for one who sees & really
understands, there is nothing real, stable or same, neither here nor there..."
Udana – Inspiration: VII – 10

"This World both Begins and Ends within this 2 fathom frame of bones..."

SN I 62
"The ALL is thereby actually just a sensed & experienced representation..."
SN IV 15

Image

A crucial core question is: What is actually an experienced phenomenon?
See the equally vital answer here! If mind is directly involved in creating
the very "thing" or "state" it perceives, as an active participatory observer,
then there cannot ever be any "objective observation" or "world out-there",
which is independent of the mind that intends, selects, and manifests it...!
It entails that 'mind' is inseparable from 'matter'. They are Siamese-Twins!
In early Buddhism, the Buddha coined this subtle yet dual Unity: Nama-Rupa!
Name-&-Form or Naming-&-Forming, since these are dynamic processes, that
in mutual dependence creates each other like 2 creepers, that only can grow
up, if growing up twisted & rotated around the other's stem like a DNA-helix.

The anthropic universe develops by conscious selection of many participating
observers. Please note that the U symbolizing the universe gets "fatter" left
by increased observation! American physicist John Archibald Wheeler said:
"No phenomenon is a phenomenon until it is an Observed Phenomenon...!"
"We are participators in bringing into being not only the near, but also the
far away both in time and space! Symbolic representation of the Universe is
a self-excited system brought into being by self-reference or auto-creation
by consciously selecting observers over an immensely long period of time...
Such a recursive-reflecting creative concept is similar to the endless series
of receding reflections one sees in a pair of mirrors facing each others....”

Reference: J.A. Wheeler in Isham et al., eds., Quantum Gravity
(Clarendon, Oxford, 1975), pgs. 564-565. (Edited Extract.)

"No phenomenon is a phenomenon, until it is an observed phenomenon!" said
by J.A. Wheeler from his delayed choice experiment ideas, is referenced
in: The undivided universe: An ontological interpretation of quantum theory.
p. 104 By David Bohm, and Basil J. Hiley.

"The path of the electron comes into existence, only when we observe it!"
John S. Bell

"Fundamental to contemporary Quantum Theory is the notion that there is
no phenomenon until it is observed! This is known as the 'Observer Effect'.
The implications of the 'Observer Effect' are profound because, if true,
it means that before anything can manifest in the physical universe it must
first be observed! This Observer Effect clearly implies that all the physical
Universe is the direct result of consciousness itself!" Alex Paterson.

If you feel slightly weird or dizzy after reading this, you are right on track!
Hihihi ;-) Keep on observing, studying, reflecting. Never give up Examination!
It is not "reality" that seems to be evaporating under your feet, but rather
the unseen, hidden, habitual and utterly false assumptions you had about it!

Supra-Human Delight!

Tranquillity is the way to Superhuman Delight!

Image

Tranquillity comes due to insight. As he is sitting, whether by night or by day,
then he experiences neither fatigue, heaviness, rigidity, slowness, nor sickness
in his body, nor in his mind, but rather his body and mind are tranquil, very light,
adaptable, pliable, quite sharp and ultra-clear! With his body and mind aided by
such tranquillity, he experiences a superhuman delight, about which it is said:

Image

A Bhikkhu with his mind all quiet...
Retired to a remote & empty place.
There right insight in the Dhamma,
Awards him a superhuman delight!
It is because he really comprehends
The rise and fall of all phenomena
That he relishes this high happiness:
A silent joy not of this world!
A bliss transcending the human!
And knows it to be the deathless...
Dhammapada 373-74

Devotion is Delight!

Post by Bhikkhu_Samahita »

Friends:

Genuine Devotion is a rare Delight!

Image

Homage to that Perfectly Self-Enlightened One!
Thus, indeed, is that the Blessed One: He is the worthy One, fully enlightened,
endowed with clear vision and virtuous conduct, sublime, the knower of worlds,
the incomparable leader of men to be tamed, the teacher of gods and men,
awakened and blessed. Forever do I reverence for the Buddhas of the past,
those of the times to come, those Buddhas of the present time...
No other refuge do I seek: The Buddha is my only true refuge. By this Truth
may peaceful victory be mine! I revere with my head the dust on his holy feet.
If I have wronged the Buddha, may the Buddha bear with me and forgive me.
Until life’s end, to the Buddha I go for saving refuge.
Who is the foremost speaker among mankind, The Sakyan Sage, O Holy One,
whose task is done, gone beyond, possessed of supreme power and energy!
To you, the well-come and well-gone One, I go for refuge!

Image

Homage to that perfectly formulated Dhamma!
The Dhamma of the Blessed One is perfectly explained, to be seen here and
now, inviting anyone to come and see, leading onward to Nibbana; to be known
by any wise, each for himself. Homage to that Dhamma leading out of this
suffering, out of Samsara! The Dhamma of the ages past, the Dhamma of
the times to come, the Dhamma of the present time, forever do I reverence.
No other refuge do I seek, the Dhamma is my true refuge. By this Truth:
May peaceful victory be mine! I revere with my head this triple Dhamma of
the three supreme qualities: Morality, Concentration and Understanding...
If I have wronged the Dhamma: May the Dhamma bear with me, and forgive me.
Until life’s end to the Dhamma I go for refuge.
Freed from lust, cleared of craving, sorrow-free: An absolute Law, gracious,
gratifying and satisfying, sweet, potent, profound, an exact analytic science...
To this very Dhamma I go for refuge!

Image

Homage to that Great Sangha Community of the Eight Noble persons.
The Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples has entered on the good way;
the straight way; the true way ; on the direct way, that is to say: the 4 pairs
of men, the 8 types of persons. This Sangha of the Blessed One’s disciples is
fit for gifts, fit for hospitality, fit for offerings, and worthy of reverential
salutation with joined palms, as an incomparable field of merit in this world.
Forever do I reverence for: The Sanghas of the past ages, those of the times
to come, and the Sanghas of the present time. No other refuge do I seek.
The Sangha is my true refuge. By this very Truth: May peaceful victory be
mine! I revere with my head this peerless Noble Sangha. If I have wronged
the Sangha: May the Sangha bear with me. Until life’s end, to the Sangha I
go for refuge. Whatever is given to the four pure pairs of persons and these
eight kind of people, who have realized the Truth, such bears great fruit...!
To this very Sangha I go for refuge!

The 7 Wings of Awakening!

Post by Bhikkhu_Samahita »

Friends:

What are the 7 Links to Awakening?

Image

1: Awareness is a link to Awakening (sati-sambojjhanga).
2: Investigation is a link to Awakening (vicaya-sambojjhanga).
3: Energy is a link to Awakening (viriya-sambojjhanga).
4: Joy is a link to Awakening (piti-sambojjhanga).
5: Tranquillity is a link to Awakening (passaddhi-sambojjhanga).
6: Concentration is a link to Awakening (samadhi-sambojjhanga).
7: Equanimity is a link to Awakening (upekkha-sambojjhanga).
These are the seven links leading to final Enlightenment...

Those whose minds are well-developed in these 7 factors of self-awakening,
who delight in non-clinging, who relinquish all grasping, whose minds are all
around luminous, whose mental fermentations are all stilled: They, even while
still in this world, are all unbound right here!

Awareness Awakens..

Post by Bhikkhu_Samahita »

Friends:

Awareness (Sati) is a Link to Enlightenment!

Image
Image

The Awareness Link to Awakening (sati-sambojjhanga) is basically the
same mental property (sati-cetasika), which inherently is included in:

The Four Foundations of Awareness (satipatthana)
The Ability of Awareness (satindriya)
The Power of Awareness (satibala)
The Right Awareness Path Factor (samma-sati-magganga)

Trained, developed and refined in a degree that gradually enlightens!

Image

The Buddha once said:
What mental fermentations (asava) should be
overcome by development? If a Bhikkhu by careful & rational attention
develops the Awareness Link to Awakening based on seclusion, disillusion,
ceasing, and culminating in relinquishment, neither can any fermentation,
nor any fever, nor any vexation ever arise in him. MN 2

The Ability of Awareness
is to anchor attention on any chosen object and
when this ability is unshakable & well fixed, it is the Power of Awareness!
Awareness is a Foundation (patthana), when well established (upatthana)
continually - without distractions interrupting - on these four objects:
1: Body as mere form: Just a group of foul and fragile organs...
2: Feeling as a mere reactive response assigned to any contact...
3: Mind as only a changing set of habitual mentalities and moods...
4: Phenomena simply as appearances of momentary mental states...

Not lasting, but transient! Not pleasure, but pain! Not self, but impersonal!
Neither neglecting, nor forgetting that these universal characteristics are
relevant and true for absolutely all aspects of these four objects, the false
and distorted perception of beauty in what really is disgusting, of pleasure
in what really is painful, of self in what really is selfless and impersonal,
gradually fades away and the mental fermentations (asava) of sensing,
of views, of ignorance and of becoming are overcome by elimination.

If one single quality should be pointed out as thee cause of Awakening,
then it is this Investigation of states Link to Awakening that enlightens!

ImageImage

The Buddha once said: What mental fermentations (asava) should be
overcome by development? If a Bhikkhu by careful & rational attention
develops the investigation of states link to awakening based on seclusion,
disillusion, ceasing, & culminating in relinquishment, then neither can any
fermentation, nor any fever, nor discontent ever arise in him. MN2

Image

Remaining thus aware, then he examines, analyzes, & comes to understand
that quality with penetrating insight. While thus aware, exploring into,
examining, analyzing, and coming to full intuitive comprehension, then this
investigation of states link to awakening becomes aroused. He develops
it, and for him it goes to the culmination of its development. MN118 [iii 85]

ImageImage

The ability of investigation of states is to examine, scrutinize and analyze
any chosen object and when this ability is unshakable and unfailing, it then
becomes the power of investigation of phenomena! By thorough and eager
investigation one understands that all things are caused and conditioned
and as such only are compounded constructions, that pass through the
inconceivably rapid moments (~10-43 sec.) of arising, presence, & ceasing!
Remaining neither the 'same', nor 'stable' for two consecutive moments...
Comprehending this universal flux gradually disables craving and clinging...
Therefore do not trust anything (especially not 'your-self'!) blindly...,
but keep on examining and question what is doubtful and not quite clear.
Don't jump into any premature conclusion, before having examined it again!
The Investigation of states Link to awakening is the sword, that cuts right
through the jungle of views to real seeing, understanding and true knowing!

Image

Investigation is found in the last five (III-VII) of these 7 Purifications:
I: Purification of morality (sila-visuddhii)
II: Purification of mind (citta-visuddhi)
III: Purification of view (ditthi-visuddhi)
IV: Purification by overcoming doubt (kankha-vitarana-visuddhi)
V: Purification by knowledge and vision of what is path and not-path
VI: Purification by knowledge and vision of progress on the path.
VII: Purification of knowledge and vision (ñanadassana-visuddhi).

ImageImage

Investigation is inherent in these 3 Comprehending Contemplations:
Contemplation of Impermanence (aniccanupassana)
Contemplation of Suffering (dukkhanupassana)
Contemplation of Impersonality (anattanupassana)

Investigation leads to the 9 kinds of real Insight-Knowledge:
1. Contemplation of Arising and Ceasing (udayabbayanupassana-ñana)
2. Contemplation of Instant Dissolution (bhanganupassana-ñana)
3. Contemplation of Appearance as Terror (bhayatupatthana-ñana)
4. Contemplation of Danger (adinavanupassana-ñana)
5. Contemplation of Disgust (nibbidanupassana-ñana)
6. The Desire for mental Release (muccitu-kamyata-ñana)
7. Reflecting and repelling contemplation (patisankhanupassana-ñana)
8. Equanimity regarding all constructions (sankharupekkha-ñana)
9. Adaptation confirming to the absolute truth (saccanulomika-ñana).

Enthusiasm initiates all Success...

Post by Bhikkhu_Samahita »

Friends:

Energy (Viriya) is a Link to Awakening!

Image

The Energy Link to Awakening (Viriya-sambojjhanga): Is basically the
same mental property (viriya-cetasika), as that which performs any
effort of action and which also is inherently included in the:
The Energy Feet of Force (viriyiddhipada)
The Ability of Energy (viriyindriya)
The Power of Energy (viriyabala)
The Right Effort Path Factor (samma-vayama-magganga)
When trained, developed and aroused energy is capable of enlightening!

The Buddha once said: What mental fermentations (asava) should be
overcome by development? If a Bhikkhu by careful & rational attention
develops the Energy Link to Awakening based on seclusion, disillusion,
ceasing, & culminating in relinquishment, then neither can any mental
fermentation, nor any fever, or discontent ever arise in him.[i] MN2

In one who examines, finds out why, & comes to assured comprehension,
in him his energy link to awakening becomes aroused. He develops it,
& for him it goes to the culmination of its development. MN118 [iii 85]

The ability of energy is to initiate, launch into action and to complete any
undertaking using persistent endurance. When this ability becomes
unshakable and unfailing, it then becomes the mighty Power of Energy!

The function of energy is this four-fold Right Effort of:
1: Eradicating evil & disadvantageous states that have arisen in the mind.
2: Preventing the arising of yet unarisen disadvantageous mental states.
3: Initiating and developing yet unarisen advantageous mental states.
4: Increasing, refining & completing already arisen advantageous states.
The characteristic of energy is readiness, willingness, enthusiastic ease,
eager and keen vigour. The manifestation of energy is action, exertion,
endeavour, industry, struggle, powerful striving and accomplishment!

Image

Lazy:
The one, who does not rise, when it is time to rise.
Who though young and strong, is weak in mind,
soft in will, and lazy by nature, such slow one
does never find the way to Nibbana.
Dhammapada 280

Get up! Sit up!
Of what use are your dreams?
How can you sleep, when sick,
stabbed by the arrow of craving...
Sutta Nipata 331

Get up! Sit up!
Push on your training, until reaching sole peace!
Do not let the king of death see you sloppy and
thus delude and dominate you like a toy doll...
Sutta Nipata 332

Feeding the Energy:
And what, friends, is feeding the Energy Link to Enlightenment, that
has not yet arised, and food too for boosting of any present Energy?
1: The element of mental initiative,
2: The element of launching into action,
3: The element of enduring persistence.

Systematic attention to these, is feeding any yet unarisen Energy
Link to Awakening, and food too for boosting any present Energy.
Samyutta Nikaya XLVI 51 Bojjhanga-samyutta

Fivefold final Energy:

Following the Buddha the energy in the disciple culminates, when he
finally thinks: Let just this blood and flesh dry up & wither away so only
skin, sinews and bones remain, I will not give up my quest and stray from
this Noble 8-fold Path before having reached Enlightenment...!

Floated by Joy :-)

Post by Bhikkhu_Samahita »

Friends:

The Joy (Pîti) Link to Awakening!

Image

The Joy Link to Awakening (Piti-sambojjhanga)
has the characteristic
of suffusing contentment, and the property of gladdening satisfaction.
This Joy Link to Awakening manifests as mental elation, which can reach
five successively increasing degrees of intensity:

1: Minor Joy, which can raise the hair on the body when thrilled.
2: Momentary Joy, which is flashing like lightning at various occasions.
3: Showering Joy, which breaks over the body repeatedly like sea-waves.
4: Uplifting Joy, which can be strong enough to even levitate the body.
5: Pervading Joy, which is like a heavy sponge all saturated with water.

Visuddhimagga IV 94-9

ImageImage

The Buddha once said: What mental fermentations (asava) should be
overcome by development? If a Bhikkhu by careful & rational attention
develops the Joy Link to Awakening based on seclusion, on disillusion,
on ceasing, & culminating in relinquishment, then neither can any mental
fermentation, nor any fever, or discontent ever arise in him. MN2

In one who has aroused enthusiastic energy, there arises a joy not of
this world & the Joy Link to Awakening emerges there. He develops it,
& for him it goes to the culmination of its development. MN118 [iii 85]

Image

Any one convinced by understanding of Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha,
gets an enthusiastic sense of the sublime good goal of Nibbana &
gains gladness connected, joined, and fused with this Dhamma...!
In any one gladdened, Joy is born. The body of the Joyous is calmed.
One of calm body experiences pleasure and happiness! The mind of
one who is happy becomes concentrated. The concentrated mind
sees and knows things as they really are. This brings disgust and
disillusion, which enables full direct experience of mental release.
It is in this way that Joy indeed is a factor leading to Awakening!

Equipoise in Equanimity...

What is the Equanimity Link to Awakening?

Image

Even evaluation is characteristic of the Equanimity Link to Awakening.
(Upekkha-Sambojjhanga). Preventing both deficiency & excess and
securing impartiality is the function of Equanimity. Imperturbable
ballance is the manifestation of the Equanimity Link to Awakening.
Equanimity just looks on whenever new phenomena arises and ceases.
This stable yet plastic patience purifies all the other advantageous
mental states, which reach maximum, when joined with Equanimity...

Image

Equanimity (Upekkha) is a moderating mental construction.
Equanimity is also a mood of neither gladness nor sadness.
Equanimity is also a feeling of neither pain nor pleasure.
Equanimity is also the neutral ability to be indifferent.
Equanimity is also the 4th infinitely divine dwelling.
Equanimity is also a quite high form of happiness.
Equanimity is also a refined mental purification.
Equanimity is therefore a Link to Enlightenment...

Image

There is Equanimity both regarding live beings and dead things.
There is Equanimity both regarding all internal & external states.
There is Equanimity both regarding all past, present and future.
There is Equanimity both regarding all mentality & all materiality.

When mind is concentrated one can observe all closely in equanimity.

and for him repeatedly meditating it goes gradually to the completion
of its development. MN118 [iii 85]

The 7 Links to Awakening is Unmatched!

Image

Venerable Sariputta once told the Buddha:
Unsurpassable is how the Blessed Buddha has taught the supreme efforts imbedded
within the Seven Links to Awakening, that is:

1: The Awareness Link to Awakening: sati-sambojjhanga.
2: The Investigation Link to Awakening: dhammavicaya-sambojjhanga.
3: The Energy Link to Awakening: viriya-sambojjhanga.
4: The Joy Link to Awakening: piti-sambojjhanga.
5: The Tranquility Link to Awakening: passaddhi-sambojjhanga.
6: The Concentration Link to Awakening: samadhi-sambojjhanga.
7: The Equanimity Link to Awakening: upekkha-sambojjhanga
.

Venerable Sir, among all these supreme Dhamma teachings and sublime mental states,
this doctrine on the 7 links to awakening also is utterly unsurpassable!

Infinite is Loving-Kindness!

Post by Bhikkhu_Samahita »

Friends:

Friendly Loving Kindness Beams, Blazes and Shines!

Image

Metta is defined thus: Loving-Kindness has the mode of friendliness as characteristic.
Its natural function is to promote friendliness. It manifests as disappearance of ill-will.
Its source is seeing with kindness. When succeeding, then it eliminates all angry enmity.
When it fails, then it degenerates into egocentric lust and desire. It can be practiced
anywhere and at anytime, but ideally sitting cross-legged in a quiet secluded place and
then whole-heartedly wishing, first beaming it out in front, then to the right, then back,
then to the left and finally below and above in this very effective and exhaustive way:
May I be happy and free from suffering...
May I keep myself free from hostility, trouble and thereby live happily...
May I become happy in this way by repeated training of this excellent goodwill praxis...
Just as I want happiness, absence of pain, life and not death, so do all other beings!
Therefore: May all beings become thus happy...
May all breathing things become thus happy...
May all creatures become thus happy...
May all deities become thus happy...
May all human beings become thus happy...
May all who have form become thus happy...
May all the Noble and not Noble become thus happy...
May all those in the states of deprivation become thus happy...
By being freed from all enmity, distress & anxiety, may they thus guide themselves to bliss."

Image

The blessed Buddha often pointed out:
Bhikkhus, whatever kinds of worldly merit there are, all are not worth one 16th part of the
release of mind by infinitely universal friendliness: In shining, beaming, glow & radiance the
release of mind by infinite, immeasurable and inexhaustible friendliness far excels them all!
Itivuttaka 27
