What's the difference between sati and dhamma-vicaya?

I've been looking at the 7 factors of enlightenment ( bojjhanga ) but I'm not clear about the practical difference between sati ( mindfulness ) and dhamma-vicaya ( investigation of dhamma ). Is it that the former is non-conceptual and the latter is conceptual?
