IMPERTURBABLE INTEGRITY...
When faced with the vicissitudes of life, then one's mind should remain unshaken....

Nevertheless, when faced with Caps Lock it seems to me that the poster is shouting to attract attention, so my mind is perturbed.

Then, on opening the thread, I wonder, “What is wrong with this person that he/she thinks this deserves anyone's attention?”

Hello Bhante,

not having access to the poster's state of mind, I tend to give him/her the benefit of the doubt, and assume the best rather than otherwise. It could have been written on a wave of inspired emotion, hence the large writing. I agree that it is best if all posts have the same size in the Index, but I still suspect that the poster was not intentionally trying to make his/her post stand out above others, but rather, was simply caught up in a wave of what appears to be very positive emotion, and that the capital letters merely betray some harmless enthusiasm.

respectfully,
manas :anjali:

you're pretty sensitive and reprimanding for a monk.

Why bother one's mind with thought's like that. Just don't ponder too much.

Friendliness means mutual advantage. Its not always just about being “nice.”

When someone is apparently seeking attention, it makes me wonder why. Perhaps we can help such people if they respond in some way — hence my post.

Jarmika has not posted again as far as I can tell, so it still leaves me wondering why he/she posted at all.

Its unusual for people to make random posts without any context.

Greetings,

I know Jarmika... she likes to share little pieces of Dhamma that resonate with her. She isn't inclined towards in-depth discussion on the pieces, and English is her second language. I can confidently say that the capitalization was due to not understanding certain expectations of netiquette rather than an attempt to be boisterous.

Metta,
Retro. :)

"This is to be done by one skilled in aims who wants to break through to the state of peace:"

"Be capable, upright, & straightforward, easy to instruct, gentle, & not conceited,"
...
"Think: Happy, at rest, may all beings be happy at heart. Whatever beings there may be, weak or strong, without exception, long, large, middling, short, subtle, blatant, seen & unseen, near & far, born & seeking birth: May all beings be happy at heart."
...
"Not taken with views, but virtuous & consummate in vision, having subdued desire for sensual pleasures, one never again will lie in the womb. "
