Ratana sutta

Post by BlueLotus »

The background of Ratana sutta (http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka ... .piya.html) is a bit weird. Sound like some exoticism other religions do.

Does anyone know
If Buddha done any such exoticism in other places of Canon ?
Is the background in commentary real? If so from where did they get it that information?

It is explained by the commentary but the Buddha's words.
I try to find about this in Pali language and I cannot find the other places of Buddhist cannon.
