Bodhi vs. Nibbana

Can anyone clarify the difference (if there is any) between bodhi and nibbana? When a person achieves the 1st stage of awakening (stream entry), is that said to be bodhi or nibbana (or both or neither)?

Bodhi and 'attaining nibbana' both refer to 'full' enlightenment ie arahathship. Stream enterers do get a glimpse of the nibbana 'element' and are said to gain the 'dhamma eye', but is not the journey completed.

It does raise a few questions though on the term 'bodhisatta' if bodhi is to be understood as such.

Hi Retro,
Cant think of a sutta to quote this from so from memory.
uusually when the Buddha uses the term Boddhisatta it is followed with destined for enlightenment as in

when I was an unenlightened Bodhisatta destined for enlightenment

so I would imagine in the theravadan context Bodhi is used in Bodhisatta to denote the end of the path that being is on??? almost like a sotapana is two kinds of persons those on the path to and those who are fully sotapanas, maybe a Bodhisattva is someone who is on one of the first three levels
