Has transcended, Not has cut off .
@SuttaNipata 2. He who has cut off passion entirely, as (they cut off) the lotus-flower growing in a lake, after diving (into the water), that Bhikkhu leaves this and the further shore, as a snake (quits its) old worn out skin. (2)

Introduction of Sutta Nipata

Sutta Nipata[1] (literally, "Suttas falling down") is a Buddhist scripture, a sutta collection in the Khuddaka Nikaya, part of the Pali Canon of Theravada Buddhism. All its suttas, thought to originate from before the Buddha's parinibbana, consist largely of verse, though some also contain some prose. It is divided into five sections:
Uraga Vagga
Cula Vagga
Maha Vagga
Atthaka Vagga
Parayana Vagga
Some scholars[2] believe that it describes the oldest of all Buddhist practices. Others agree that it contains much very early material.

Has transcended, Not has cut off . 超越,而非摒除。
@SuttaNipata經集 2. He who has cut off passion entirely, as (they cut off) the lotus-flower growing in a lake, after diving (into the water), that Bhikkhu leaves this and the further shore, as a snake (quits its) old worn out skin. 2 他摒除一切愛慾,猶如拔掉池塘裡的蓮花,這樣的比丘拋棄此岸與彼岸,猶如蛇蛻去衰老的皮。

Has transcended, Not has destroyed.
@SuttaNipata 4. He who has destroyed arrogance entirely, as the flood (destroys) a very frail bridge of reeds, that Bhikkhu leaves this and the further shore, as a snake (quits its) old worn out skin.
