Sunyata and dependent origination (in the broader sense of conditionality) are the same thing expressed in different terms.

Phenomena are empty of Self in that they do not exist because of an inherent nature but interdependently, conditionally on internal parts and external conditioning factors. This is why things change, what allows them to change.

I wonder if this is the best place for this topic though.

It almost certainly isnt. Or rather it is predictable that a discussion of Sunyata in the General Theravada forum will eventually be problematic. Sunnata and Sunyata differ in more than their respective lingustic derivations.
If it is really Sunyata that you are contemplating Convivium you might be better putting your question to Dharma Wheel.

:goodpost:

I think I might borrow the same answer to answer the "how does sunyata relate to dependent origination?" question too.

Metta,
Retro. :)

This sutta may help you define sunnata: Suñña Sutta

This sutta may help you define a relationship with dependent origination: Parileyyaka Sutta

Also this may help: Phagguna Sutta

With metta
