According to the Wisdom page in the part of the Buddha Teachings , the Anguttara Nikaya is in the review process . Apparently Bhikkhu Bodhi completed the translation .

From a recent interview:
http://jizochronicles.com/2011/09/01/in ... khu-bodhi/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
JC: What else would you like people to know about you?

Bhikkhu Bodhi: I should mention that I also translate Buddhist texts from Pali into English. A couple of months ago I completed a translation of the Anguttara Nikaya, which has been submitted to Wisdom Publications and will be published in 2012. I donated a substantial portion of the royalties from my earlier publications to create, through Wisdom, a Nikayas Fund. The intention is to donate sets of the English translations of the four Nikayas to monasteries and libraries in the disadvantaged countries of Buddhist Asia, Eastern Europe, and elsewhere where the costs would be formidable.

Greetings Mike,

That is cool... it's a positive wholesome thought to bring to mind when forking over our cash to Amazon etc. - a thought that is much preferable to, and more beneficial than an unwholesome "the Dhamma should be free" whinge.

Metta,
Retro. :)

Perhaps off topic but for us down here shipping costs from Amazon are ridiculous and the US mail moves like a wounded snail...
I'd always try at least: http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; first...

Hi Mike, Retro, all,

How much do you think Wisdom would need from a wealthy donor in order to allow a electronic copy for Free Distribution so people could copy and paste suttas onto DhammaWheel? I guess this is an occasion to remember the wonderful generosity of John Bullitt at Access to Insight for his unpaid publishing efforts.

Thanks / dhammapal.

:woohoo:

Excellent news!

Just ordered a copy. I already have the PTS version and refer to it and study it frequently. By far the best Nikaya, in my opinion. The last of the four primary Nikayas to be translated by Bhikkhu Bodhi, he has saved the best for last.

Just saw in the preview that according to an analysis of Canon, the AN has more Suttas regarding lay people than any other Nikaya; although not that surprising since it has the most Suttas.

PTS did a great job, but it will be nice to see the update to modern English in this translation and if there are any other differences.
