The story of Brahmadatta and Prince Dighavu

Postby Wizard in the Forest » Tue Jan 04, 2011 10:46 pm

I remember this story about a young prince whose parents were brutally murdered by order of King Brahmadatta who conquered his family's kingdom of Kosala. This story was one about how one shouldn't go on a path of vengeance and conquer hatred with love. I don't remember where I saw it, but I wanted to know if anyone remembers or knows where it is from.

The Kosambi Jātaka story was told to the quarrelling monks at Kosambi, urging them to practise forbearance. The full account is in the Vinaya text, but I haven't been able to find it online.
