It might be interesting to compare and contrast with Ajahn Amaro's account of a tudong he took many years ago when he walked from Chithurst to Harnham Vihara. The account was published under the title " The Long Road North " well worth seeking out.
The going for refuge is the door of entrance to the teachings of the Buddha.
