Yes, it is a simile. Same with this human beings, as you mentioned this body are more than the sum of their parts, this is the proof that there is no human beings. Human beings are just intellectual concept that try to capsule a part of reality.
I am not here nor there.

I do not exist neither non-exist.
I am not I nor non-I.
I am not in samsara nor nirvana.
