Hello all,
I have never felt that there was any contradiction between the Suttas and the Abhidhamma.
A few of the many Sutta references containing Abhidhamma teachings:
Majjhima Nikaya 112 Chabbisodhana Sutta - The Six-Fold Examination
Majjhima Nikaya 140 Dhatu-vibhanga Sutta - Classification of Elements
Majjhima Nikaya 148 Chachakka Sutta - The Discourse on Six Sixes
Majjhima Nikaya 149 Mahaasa.laayatanika Sutta - The Longer Discourse on the Six Spheres
Samyutta Nikaya XXII.56 Parivatta Sutta - The (Fourfold) Round
Samyutta Nikaya XXII.57 - Seven Bases
