Does anybody know Commentarial explanation on this part of the sutta?
Mula Sutta
Re: Mula Sutta
Maybe someone can be so helptful to translate whole commentary?
Re: Mula Sutta
Hi,
here Commentary deals only with the last two sentences, because elsewhere it deals with first eight. The part I can understand says that nibbāna-element with remainder (saupādisesā nibbānadhātu) is spoken of as “gain footing in deathless”, and nibbāna-element without remainder (anupādisesā nibbānadhātu) is “final nibbāna”. Then there's part I don't really know how to translate.

Re: Mula Sutta
Thanks,
Well, it's quite clear that these 2 sentences speak about nibbana (or final nibbana).
I wonder if there is some comment on the details (as "gain footing in nibbana" means... [this and this])

Re: Mula Sutta
Hi Zom,
It only says, as far as I can tell, that it's named “without remainder” (anupādisesa) because all dhammas (i.e. five khandhas according to Commentary) reach final. That's all and there's no more details.

Here's whole commentary:
- Mūlakasuttavaṇṇanā
Aṭṭhame amatogadhāti ettha saupādisesā nibbānadhātu kathitā, nibbānapariyosānāti ettha anupādisesā. Anupādisesaṃ pattassa hi sabbe dhammā pariyosānappattā nāma honti. Sesapadāni heṭṭhā vuttatthāneva.
