Sota = stream

Sotāpanna = one who has attained the stream leading to final liberation. That is, there is no possibility that a Stream-winner will regress and fall back to the state of a worldling or fall into lower realms of existence. Within seven lives at the most, the Stream-winner will attain the final liberation of Arahantship.

There is a Pāli dictionary at http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/pali/index.html.
Pajjati : (page 387)
later Sk. also "to go to"] to go, go to; usually not in simplex, but only in compn with prefixes; as āpajjati, uppajjati, nipajjati etc. -- Alone only in one doubtful passage, viz. A iv.362 (vv. ll. paccati, pabbati, gacchati.). -- pp. panna (q. v.).

Panna
Panna [pp. of pajjati but not satisfactorily expld as such, for pajjati & panna never occur by themselves, but only in cpds. like āpajjati, āpanna, upp˚, upa˚, sam˚, etc. Besides, the word is only given in lexic. literature as pp. of pajjati,

Hi blue lotus (that's 'nil-maanel' in Sinhalese by the way ;-)),

Sota - apanna : stream - enterer,
Sota - apatti : the state of stream-entry

'Sota, sota what is the Sota' Ven Sariputta asks: 'the Noble eightfold path' is the correct reply.

Stream entrant has fulfilled Sila (morality) training and attained to right view. They have some degree of right effort, mindfulness and right concentration. They know that the four noble truths are true experientially, hence the fetter of doubt has fallen away and have unshakeable faith in the Buddha, his teachings (the dhamma) and those who practice accordingly and reach higher attainments (the sangha). The latter are defined as those who have reached the higher 'paths and fruits'.
