Shrine Room: Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej dies

Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world’s longest-serving monarch, died aged 88 on Thursday, heralding a potential new bout of instability for the politically volatile country and its military rulers. More here
Bhikkhus, if you develop and make much this one thing,
it invariably leads to weariness, cessation, appeasement, realization and extinction.
What is it? It is recollecting the Enlightened One.
If this single thing is recollected and made much,
it invariably leads to weariness, cessation, appeasement, realization and extinction.

Was he not also somewhat famous for playing the saxophone as a pastime, I think?

It's a sad time for Thailand. As the steadying influence since the 1940s, he will be sorely missed.

Entertainment has been cancelled for 30 days. This was the vigil before his death.

Būmibalapmahā rāja dead and Mahāparinibbānasutta

Postby theY » Thu Oct 13, 2016 11:26 pm

Now, in thailand, it is like a time in mahāparinibbānasutta.
Status on facebook of my friends, are about my king.
It is a time we lost an idol who can give his whole life and family to his people.

Unfortunately, it took the death of this great man for me to learn about him. May the Thai people be strong in these times.

Adapted from the late His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej's royal literary work: The Jataka Story of Mahajanaka

From video description:
1 in 500 preceding life regarding Buddha Jataka stories the particular Account regarding MAHAJANA life regarding buddha, Gautama Buddha

The particular Jātakas (Sanskrit जातक) (also regarded in some other dialects since: Burmese: pronounced: [zaʔ tɔ̀]; Khmer: ជាតក [cietɑk]; Lao: ຊາດົກ sadok; Thai: ชาดก sadok) talk about the voluminous body regarding books native for you to Indian with regards to the preceding births (jāti) with the Buddha.

These include the particular reports of which notify around the preceding day-to-day lives with the Buddha, in the two man and also pet kind. The long run Buddha can take place inside them as a double, an outcast, the goodness, an elephant—but, in whatsoever kind, he / she demonstrates many virtue the account thereby inculcates.

Within Theravada Buddhism, the particular Jatakas are a textual section with the Pali Cannon, within the Khuddaka Nikaya with the Sutta Pitaka. The term Jataka also can talk about a regular comments for this ebook.

This talk by Ajahn Amaro is a nice encouragement to use King Bhumibol's life as a source of inspiration.
