Good Fats!

Did you know that some fats are actually good for you?
Contrary to popular wisdom, what we refer to as "fats" are not the same as the fat on your body. And some "fats" (they are actually acids, but that is a different story) can help to boost your metabolism--enhance thermogenesis. Chief among them is Coconut Oil. Far superior to carbohydrates!
Why? I'll tell you if you are interested. Or you can do the research yourself, which is far better.

I am aware that some fats are good for you. But for the sake of my sanity (in other words, trying to research this with two toddlers in the house! LOL) let's hear what you've got! :)

Tropicaltraditions.com is a good place to start.
I was originally turned on to Coconut Oil when I lived in The Philippines. Been taking 3 tablespoons a day for years now, as well as putting it on my hair and skin. I'm 47 and thinner and healthier than I was in high school. Everyone can benefit from knowing about good fats!

Nuts. I love 'em! However, too much of good fats will get you fat, too ;)

According to this article coconut oil is very high in cholesterol and saturated fat. There does appear to be some definite health benefits if consumed moderately.

Olive oil is the best 'fat' to take. In fact, an Ayurvedic guru once stated(BBC Radio 4, 'The Food Programme',) that if you wanted to survive on just three basic foods, they would be (in this order) Olives, almonds and apples.
And lots of water.
the body would be perfectly sustained by eating these three foods.
(I guess you'd get pretty bored after a few days though........)
