I usually use a bench when meditating, but recently I have been thinking about moving towards the use of a cushion so that I can practice a half or full lotus position. Two questions:
1. Is it important what posture you use? Am I wasting time trying a new posture when the bench works fine?
2. Are there any helpful exercises, stretches, guides, etc. to facilitate better balance and posture when doing a half or full lotus?
Thanks!
Gain and loss, status and disgrace,
censure and praise, pleasure and pain:
these conditions among human beings are inconstant,
impermanent, subject to change.
Knowing this, the wise person, mindful,
ponders these changing conditions.
Desirable things don’t charm the mind,
undesirable ones bring no resistance.
His welcoming and rebelling are scattered,
gone to their end,
do not exist.
