May James have a rebirth where he can hear and practise the Dhamma
May James have happiness and the causes of happiness
May he quickly progress on the path to Nibbana and never fall back.
May those he has left behind be free of mental and physical pain.
May you be free from suffering, James.

Sad news indeed.
Ever so often when it's a particularly cold morning here, I remember jc saying - no such thing as cold, only inadequate clothing. Always puts me in a good mood.
Will miss his Dhamma contributions.
Metta to his family

Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

I am very much a newbie bere, nevertheless I wish to offer my condolences to the family of James Brand also. May they not be afraid, as to my knowledge, the goodness and insight cultivated by him in the course of this lifetime will be his truest friend now, whatever happens from here. May he, and his family, be well and free from fear.

May JC's family be well at this difficult time.
May they recall, treasure and be thankful for all the good he gave and carry on with their lives in the way that would make him proud.

always embarrassed at my inability to say something useful at times like this. Instead, I'll just try to get up a bit earlier, work a little harder, be a little kinder.

It's really a sad information. I also send my condolence to James' family.
Re: Regarding the absence of "JCSuperstar"
Just catching up here after a couple of busy months and reading this. How sad
My condolences to JC's family in this hard time, but also a timely reminder that we all might have less time than we would like to think.
Wishing JC a fortunate rebirth/step forward on this path.

I am sad to hear of James' passing, when I was on Esangha he was one of the reliable people who kept things light and cool. I will remember him in my prayers. My condolences to his family, it must be a very hard time for all of them. I can't imagine what his wife must feel losing her beloved.

JCSuperstar was an excellent poster whose views I thoroughly enjoyed reading and it is utterly tragic that he's gone. He must have been a wonderful person to have known.
My deepest sympathies to the family.

Holy shit, what terrible and unexpected news. I guess it just goes to show how short and impermanent life really is. Requiescat in pace, JC.

Here's an article on the issue... doesn't even mention he's Buddhist:

Crazy stuff... let us remember the Buddha's words:
I still have a bunch of PMs from him... here today, gone tomorrow:'Enough, Ânanda! Do not let yourself be troubled; do not weep! Have I not already, on former occasions, told you that it is in the very nature of all things most near and dear unto us that we must divide ourselves from them, leave them, sever ourselves from them? How, then, Ânanda, can this be possible--whereas anything whatever born, brought into being, and organised, contains within itself the inherent necessity of dissolution--how, then, can this be possible, that such a being should not be dissolved?'
