I caught up with Ben on the weekend. I was using his computer to check Dhamma Wheel and such, and accidentally stumbled upon an online banking transaction in which an anonymous person from California had transferred a significant sum of money into his account. I was curious about it, but I didn't ask Ben what the story was.
Later, after this knife incident...
... I realised it was an assassination attempt! Thankfully I managed to thwart it though, through the innovative use of a set of tongs. Unable to take me out of commission, Ben was obliged to return his commission to the anonymous sender of said funds. The appropriate authorities have been informed.

What is the final conviction that comes when radical attention is razor-edge sharp? That the object of the mind is mind-made (manomaya). (Ven. Ñāṇananda)
"If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 50 years ago, a liberal 25 years ago and a racist today." (Thomas Sowell)
