I feel members should be aware that
this tool exists to help them mitigate potential damage from any personal or defamatory messages that happen to appear on a discussion board for a short while and are cached by Google before the mod/admin team has a chance to take them down.
Rain soddens what is kept wrapped up,
But never soddens what is open;
Uncover, then, what is concealed,
Lest it be soddened by the rain.

Strange. I've been involved in online communities and discussion boards for more than 25 years, and I haven't had to deal with the sorts of "potential damage" you seem to run into. I think you might be doing it wrong.

So if I understand you correctly, if someone makes defamatory remark about another person, it's because the target of the remark was "doing it wrong." The person who made the defamatory remark is not the problem.
In any case, I don't see why a person who is the target of such a remark should not be informed about this web-removal tool.

FYI to anyone looking to get something removed from the web. There are sites that save a copy of everything on the web. For example, archive.org. I have no idea if those site cooperate with requests to remove content.
Using a psudeonym, watching the details you reveal about yourself and talking in non-nasty way with people is still the best insurance a person has.
Cool tool Jechbi, thanks for the heads up.
In reading the scriptures, there are two kinds of mistakes:
One mistake is to cling to the literal text and miss the inner principles.
The second mistake is to recognize the principles but not apply them to your own mind, so that you waste time and just make them into causes of entanglement.

In order to stay on topic, I'll just say this.
It's easier to act in a manner that does not offend than to try to get search engines to remove their indexes.

Looks like the paranoids are being attacked again.

Thanks Jechbi. Worth knowing - saves thinking about taking legal action.
