Don't show this to your arteries!

Live or let fry: KFC 'man-time' bunless burger blasted

It's been called "The Double" by its creators, but the new bunless burger from KFC doesn't just have twice the usual serve of fried chicken, it also has an unhealthily high amount of kilojoules and fat, nutritionists say.

The burger, which will be sold across Australia for four weeks from tomorrow, has two slices of bacon and cheese sandwiched between two slabs of chicken - and no bread. It will cost $7.95 per burger, or $9.95 for a burger with fries and a drink.

The original recipe burger has 1939 kilojoules, 22.3 grams of fat and 1681 milligrams of sodium per serve. The Zinger burger has 2515 kilojoules, 35.7 grams of fat and 2058 milligrams of sodium

It won't affect me  - as far as I can remember, the last time I ate KFC was in Alice Springs in, let's see, 1988.
But it does make me feel a bit (more) disgusted with them and sorry for their customers.

I have some considerable sympathy for the pig and chicken, too.....

Heart attack on a plate.

It reminds me of a guy I knew a few years back who had a Lao girlfriend. He was a vegetarian and she was an omnivore / carnivore. They prepared their own meals and then ate together. He said that it was not enough for her to just cook one animal in each meal, but always had the meat of at least two different animals in each meal.

I think the restaurant should offer free sodas with statins mixed into them with the meal.
In reading the scriptures, there are two kinds of mistakes:
One mistake is to cling to the literal text and miss the inner principles.
The second mistake is to recognize the principles but not apply them to your own mind, so that you waste time and just make them into causes of entanglement.

You know, it's not really that bad.

A McDonalds Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese has 740 Calories (3098 kj,) 42 grams of fat and 1380mg sodium. I have one of these occasionally.

Beware the limited time offer. It was originally intended for a limited time in the US, but we've had it now for nearly a year. Reminds me of the old Jack In The Box commercial with the focus group...

"I understand the meat... and I get the cheese... but what's with the bun?"

Jack charges into the room, "Without the bun you'd have meat and cheese all over your hands!"

<blank stares>

"Okay, we'll look into it."

Hi Bodom

Yesterday I was reading an article about news in, I think, San Antonio. The public face of the Heart Attack Grill, a 'large' young guy whose name escapes me, died suddenly. I'd never heard of the Heart Attack Grill before and was disturbed by some of the menu offerings, such as the 'quadruple bi-pass burger'.
What people put in their mouths, eh?

Hi Ben

Ive never even heard of the place. Its a shame that some people have no self control when it comes to eating and that places like the above take advantage of these people the way they do.

Heart Attack Grill has a wiki and, rather than taking advantage as you suggest, seems to be doing what it does on account of a provocative marketing strategy. That people without self-control in their eating habits suffer is a matter of course, but suggesting that this or that establishment is cashing in on such impulses is to attempt mind-reading with a pessimistic bias.

Indeed.

In recent years there has been a successful push to remove fast-food advertising from children's programming on commercial tv stations and the requirement of fast food chains to display nutritional information regarding their products. Neither of which would have happened without legislative pressure. Our societies are experiencing the health effects of an obesity epidemic. Its all very well for some people to lay responsibility of ill-health at the feet of those who lack self control, but marketers are complicit in the effects their products cause.
kind regards

Ben
