The USDA is retiring the Food Pyramid and replacing it with a "My Plate" similar to what the German government has had. It isn't perfect, but the "My Plate" is much simpler graphically and verbally. The advice is also more modern:http://www.choosemyplate.gov/
In reading the scriptures, there are two kinds of mistakes:
One mistake is to cling to the literal text and miss the inner principles.
The second mistake is to recognize the principles but not apply them to your own mind, so that you waste time and just make them into causes of entanglement.

I like it!
It is pretty straight-forward and simple. And for the protein group, it shows many vegetarian options.

A step forward on a long path, but there is a very long way to go.
Grains occupy a substantial part of the plate, but there is no reason for people living in a wealthy country to load up on grains. Cruciferous vegetables and legumes should occupy most of that space. The negative effects of excess carbohydrates have been well documented.
Any serious discussion of diet has to include the role of healthy fats and why excess sugars are so detrimental.
