Or must one lie prone & fouled in one's own excrement and urine?

The king of the under world cross questions, asks for reasons and studies together with him thus. ‘Good man did you not see the first divine messenger among humans?’
He says ‘Sir I did not see.’
Then the king of the under world would ask him. ‘Good man didn’t you see a todler who stands and lies with difficulty, mingled in his own urine and excreta while lying?’

Thank you. But I feel I have dwelt here in a past life.

Hello hellbeing,
There is an element of this thinking in all of us from time to time. No need to go on feelings, And if any part of the Teachings seems difficult to you, just set it aside for a while (without discounting it) and continue your practice.
with karuna,
Chris

Sometimes there are elements in pop culture and shows which can help. Here is a great scene from the Lion King:
Dialogue elements:
Adult Simba: I know what I have to do. But going back will mean facing my past. I've been running from it for so long.
[Rafiki hits Simba on the head with his stick]
Adult Simba: Ow! Jeez, what was that for?
Rafiki: It doesn't matter. It's in the past.

It so happens that "excrement and urine" is an anagram for reenacted rune minx and cad reenter menu nix
Rain soddens what is covered up,
It does not sodden what is open.
Therefore uncover what is covered
That the rain will not sodden it. Ud 5.5

We have probably experienced all the realms.
Don't you think after a long time in a deva realm, if you fell into a lower realm, it would seem like hell? Might even make a person want to pursue the Dharma in order to transcend all realms.

Wishing: In gladness and in safety,
May all beings be at ease.

Now this is seriously badass lower realm kamma - to push alan off his metta-pursuing path!
I hope that the fear of the lower realms he is heading for will turn element towards the brahmavihara of not harassing Dhamma Wheel.

What is the use of his knowledge
pertaining to the number of insects in the whole world?
Rather, inquire into his knowledge of
that which is to be practised by us

It's in back of the Avici Starbucks. Where the coffee is always weak and the muffins stale.
