Are you OK?

Postby Ben » Thu Sep 15, 2011 2:58 am

Today is RU OK? Day in Australia.

R U OK? is an independent, not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to provide national focus and leadership for ending suicide in Australia by empowering people to make a difference, encouraging open and honest communication and driving real connection. Our vision is for a society that can openly discuss suicide, and that has taken responsibility for maintaining the connections that prevent it.

Our four priorities are

Connecting people to stop little problems turning into big ones
Supporting sector partners at the coalface of suicide prevention
De-stigmatising conversations about suicide
Developing tailored national programs to promote R U OK? and encourage participation

So I think its worthwhile for us to ask each other "Are you OK?" and provide a protected space where members can answer honestly.
You may also wish to ask those near and dear to you, "Are you OK?"

Thank you Chris.
Was it Dickens who penned
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times"??
That about sums it up.
Weird this Dhamma stuff, how one can be equanimous amongst the maelstrom. Sometimes the equanimity is not there, but on balance, its all good.

Greetings,

We're doing this at work today - it's a good initiative.

Thanks Kim.
Sad, though I am glad he seems to have come to terms with some issues before he passed away.
Wishing him and his family peace and liberation.
kind regards

Ben
