'Equanimity' by Australian poet Les Murray

Dear friends,

Someone suggested I read this poem, 'Equanimity', by renowned Australian poet, Les Murray. I really like it. For me, it really captures how it feels to be present and aware, how it feels to perceive the world with equanimity--such that 'nothing is diminished by perspective'. The Christian references aside, I think it really resonates with Dhammic ideals.

Hope you like it too. :anjali:

That's great Zavk
Thanks for sharing.
Its reminiscent of the poetry of my friend, Mike, who is a co-practitioner.
Zavk, if you contact him with regard to your research project, do ask him about his 'Dhamma' poetry! I think his fourth volume is in the process of publication at the moment.

Greetings,

I'm tipping it's a different Les Murray to the SBS Soccer commentator...

If you have asked me of the origination of unease, then I shall explain it to you in accordance with my understanding:
Whatever various forms of unease there are in the world, They originate founded in encumbering accumulation. (Pārāyanavagga)

Hi Ben, I did send Mike an email but haven't heard from him. But I'll just work with what I have now and invite him again to take part if I need more participants.

Retro: Heh... When I told my partner about the poem she went, 'What Les Murray, the soccer guy?!'

It's this Les Murray who wrote the manifesto for the Australian Commonwealth Party back in 1972: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Murray_(poet)

Best wishes,
