I am a new member of this forum. I used to be a member of E-sangha quite some time ago. I posted there under the name zenbrain. I left out of frustration over the way certain things were done there. But I am happy to have found this forum.

I have not formally identified as Theravada, but if I did identify with any one school it would probably be that. I respect all Buddhist vehicles and non-Buddhist contemplative traditions, finding many points of interest, but reading the Pali canon feels like "home" to me. My primary meditation practices are vipassana and metta, which I have been doing on a dedicated basis for several years.

I am a student of Shinzen Young, and my other major influences include Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, Ajahn Chah, S.N. Goenka, Joseph Goldstein, Sharon Salzberg, Guy Armstrong, Bhante Gunaratana, Thanissaro Bhikkhu, Jack Kornfield, and Bhikkhu Payutto (in no particular order, although Buddhadasa is at the top of the list).

Namaste.

Metta,

If you have asked me of the origination of unease, then I shall explain it to you in accordance with my understanding:
Whatever various forms of unease there are in the world, They originate founded in encumbering accumulation. (Pārāyanavagga)

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I browsed around a bit before signing up and I have to say that I'm impressed. Most if not all of the posts I saw were considerate and courteous, especially when there was disagreement. It suggests that the main goal is to learn and practice the Dhamma, rather than quibbling for the sake of "being right," which can happen all to easily on web boards.
