A video response to 'Savouring Samsara' by Stuart Davis

Hello all,

On Monday I laid the carpet in my study/recording studio (so, for the first time in two or three years, I have the facilities to record music again!). I've been thinking about writing a musical response to the song 'Savouring Samsara' by Stuart Davis for a while (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5FToH8eKTw) but without any equipment to hand I've been unable to.

So, now I have all my equipment set up (finished at 10pm last night, phew) I decided today to test it. I threw together a song as a response to the Stuart Davis song, and I've uploaded it to youtube. It's not finished, I've only worked on it for about four hours... so don't expect too much... I'm just curious to see what other dhammawheel users might think of it

I got about half-way through before Youtube decided it had had enough.

What I heard sounded alright as a demo.

If I could make a general comment, it would be that samsara is about both the happy and the sad.

I'm thinking that in order to recognize samsara we need to be experientially aware of it, not just take someone's word for it. Through awareness practices we savor (taste/test) samsara for quality. We taste it by looking it spang in the eye, noting how it feels and how it moves the mind - and if we're really aware we observe the blade hidden in the honey each time before we reactively dive in. If not, we experience the dissatisfaction that lurks under the alluring honey - eventually learning to test (taste) elements of samsara with awareness before we give them a big juicy lick.
