If you add your own filter dhammawheel.com###smiley-box smilies within posts will remain.

LOL
Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

I find the box on the right very convenient on mobile devices. If you want to post with minimal exposure to the box type your post in an external editor (like notepad++) and paste it.

And if you see yellow gremlins: it sometimes happens when you pour water over them on your screen ;)

Bumping up an old thread.

I don't mind seeing them, but wonder if I could remove them as they cause me to need to scroll down quite a bit to reach the Preview/Submit button, preferably without any extensions/add-ons.

I recall that someone here posted a trick which I applied successfully when using Firefox. It involved creating a file with some code. (Can't find that thread now. Deleted?) I now use Vivaldi, a Chromium browser.
