An American monk recently visited Bhante Dhammanando in Bangkok and he has a pretty interesting story. So I made a Dhamma Wiki article about him with information gathered by Bhante Dhammanando and tilt:

He gave away his own home to a homeless veteran and his large family after Hurricane Katrina and then went to Thailand to ordain.

A modern day hero.

What is the use of his knowledge
pertaining to the number of insects in the whole world?
Rather, inquire into his knowledge of
that which is to be practised by us

This being is bound to samsara, kamma is his means for going beyond.

Níl sa saol seo ach ceo
There is naught in this life but mist
Is ní bheimid beo ach seal beag gearr.
And we will not be alive but a short hard time.
