Theravāda in the 21st century - modern applications of ancient wisdom
by retrofuturist » Tue May 12, 2009 5:42 am
Greetings,
Although I've not heard of this bhikkhu before, his writings make for interesting reading.
http://www.knowbuddhism.info/search/lab ... hippapannoDoes anyone know anything about him?
Metta,
Retro.

If you have asked me of the origination of unease, then I shall explain it to you in accordance with my understanding:
Whatever various forms of unease there are in the world, They originate founded in encumbering accumulation. (Pārāyanavagga)'We should not congratulate someone on the success of their misdeeds, but on the contrary should endeavour to advise him or her to lead a more skilful and wholesome life. If such advice is ignored then we can only give up and let go' - Phra PanyapatipoDharma Wheel (Mahayana / Vajrayana forum)

Greetings Chris,
Thanks... I managed to glean from that link that he was a teacher in the Thai Forest tradition.

Many of his talks are available (only Thai) as videos here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/watsanfranHe emphasises the use of panya and investigation more than samadhi, which sets him apart from the other Dhammayut Ajahns.

Greetings,
Cool... I was just flicking through my pile of unread Dhamma Books and realised that one that I bought 2nd hand for $2 is actually by Phra Acariya Thoon Khippapanno.

Greetings,
It was quite a good read and definitely in line with venerable Gavesako's assessment of his teaching style.
