Hi Nevin,
I'm usually not a big fan of tattoos, but I do like your one!
kind regards,

Looks great!

Did getting it done give you an opportunity to observe suffering?!

Lol 4 hours worth of suffering!

No, it wasn't all that bad but it was definitely interesting watching all these feelings and sensations come and go. It was an excellent practice in trying to stay mindful and equinimous in the midst of unpleasant feelings. Never again will an aching knee or back seem so bad while sitting in meditation lol. And it was cool because t he guy who did my tattoo is a practicing Buddhist as well so we had fun with it.

Greetings,

Are those flames?

But I thought the Buddha was cool? 8-)

Metta,
Retro. :)
If you have asked me of the origination of unease, then I shall explain it to you in accordance with my understanding:
Whatever various forms of unease there are in the world, They originate founded in encumbering accumulation. (Pārāyanavagga)

I thought of flames, too, because the Buddha said:
"The world is afire." That sentence would fit perfectly to your tatoo.

Also, according to legend, when the Buddha attained enlightenment, rays of light emanated from him and the colors of the rays were:

orange, yellow, white, red, blue

(which is one of the reasons for those colors being on the Buddhist flag)

So orange and yellow were excellent colors to choose for these reasons or more and it looks great!

There is a German proverb: "Beauty must suffer" Do not make it too beautiful it gives so much rise to pity. *smile*
