“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.
- Sutta Nipata 3.725

There are some suttas from Digha by Bodhi (like Mahanidana) - and in my opinion they are better than Walshe's.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Anyone know if a Kindle version will be available in September? All those footnotes make the electronic version nice to have.

I see bookdepository.co.uk have an extra 10% discount this week, I wonder if it will work against the pre-order of the Anguttara.

Which others of Ven. Bodhi's book(s) would anyone recommend as a first or essential purchase?

Hello everyone,

I decided I couldn't wait another 3 months so I purchased the 1933 Pali Text Society Gradual Sayings F.L. Woodward and E.M. Hare translation.

So far most of the suttas I like most are already on or Nyanaponika Thera's anthologies (Parts , & ) so I'm advising people to wait the few more months for Bhikkhu Bodhi's translation.

I'd like to use Bhikkhu Bodhi's Thematic Guide from the NDB Digital Preview pdf but the PTS version has a different chapter numbering system. Does anyone have a link regarding converting one to the other?

Thanks / dhammapal.

Since this question seemed a little off topic, I started a new thread to answer it as well as a place for people who want to go through Bhante's study guide.
