Where the Online Meditation Resources?

Postby terencestrong » Thu Aug 02, 2012 5:58 am

Hi,

My name is Terence and I am new to meditation and to Buddhism, and was interested in finding a site that teaches online meditation or has really good and relaxing guided meditation videos. Do you know of any such site? What you even use it, if it existed? I want to find an online community of mediators. Should I build it? I really want it.

I would advise finding a face to face teacher in your local area to meet up with as the preferred option, so try to find a local teacher in your general area! although there are plenty of guided meditation tracks for varying degrees of experience around maybe the Take10 program would be a good starting point for you? http://www.getsomeheadspace.com/ you do not have to sign up and pay for the other programs although as an introductory resource it is quite good.

There are plenty of experienced & knowledgeable practitioners here so if you have any questions you can ask and get advise.

Although not to put a downer on you exuberance for meditation, you should get more experience before creating somewhere for meditatiors.
This offering maybe right, or wrong, but it is one, the other, both, or neither!

Greetings Terence,

I have no experience with on-line instructions, but there are some out there from reputable people, such as Gil Fronsdal:
http://www.insightmeditationcenter.org/ ... e-courses/
I have heard some good things about this site, but, again have no personal experience:
http://www.vipassana.com/course/

I would urge you to look for something local, since face-to-face discussion on almost anything really has a lot of advantages. This directory may help:
