Hello there :namaste:

Some of you may remember me as Caz from other places Ive recently purchased a few books on The Theravadin Sutta's such as In the Buddha's words by Bhikkhu Bodhi and the Vissudhimagga, Ive always enjoyed reading the first turning teachings and hope to gain some further context and appreciation of them here in order to expand my knowledge of Buddhadharma :) :namaste:

Welcome Zach!

To study is to know the texts,
To practice is to know your defilements,
To attain the goal is to know and let go.

Welcome Aboard!
“Mendicants, these two [types of persons] defame the Tathāgata.
(The mendicants asked) What are the two [types of persons]?
(The Lord Buddha responded) The malicious, or the inwardly angry, and the one with (blind) faith or the one who holds things incorrectly.
Mendicants, these two [types of persons] defame the Tathāgata.”

"Others will misconstrue reality based on personal perspectives, firmly holding onto and not easily discarding them; We shall not misconstrue reality due to our personal perspectives, nor firmly holding them, but easily discarded."

Greetings Caz,

Welcome to Dhamma Wheel.

Of the two books you've purchased, definitely start with In The Buddha's Words.
