Been reading about him, he actually seems like a decent guy but has his issues:

His father was Bipolar-- I can see him coming up with the decision to name himself 'Metta World Peace' while experiencing the exhilaration of mania. He may not be able to control himself very well, but he doesn't seem to be a genuine douchebag.
