My older brother, Justin, passed away on this day ten years ago on his 45th birthday.
He left behind his wife and three young girls.
To you and your girls, I dedicate my merits.

Sadness. Ten years is a long time; I hope the sadness has been tempered over these years with fondness and good mermories.
What is the use of his knowledge
pertaining to the number of insects in the whole world?
Rather, inquire into his knowledge of
that which is to be practised by us

And we will not be alive but a short hard time.

May he have fortunate rebirths and always have contact with the Dhamma.

Bhikkhus, if you develop and make much this one thing,
it invariably leads to weariness, cessation, appeasement, realization and extinction.
What is it? It is recollecting the Enlightened One.
If this single thing is recollected and made much,
it invariably leads to weariness, cessation, appeasement, realization and extinction.Anguttara-Nikaya: Ekanipata: Ekadhammapali: PañhamavaggaWBB TBHT HBM AC My Page

Indeed it has. Metta Bhavana and the sharing of one's merits everyday has helped to transform the grief.
Thanks everyone.

Dear Ben,
I wish your older brother, Justin, be reborn into the Tavatimsa Deva World...so close to Sakka 'the king of devas/devis.
And I think he'll always watch over his wife/children:
I'll be there :

If you have asked me of the origination of unease, then I shall explain it to you in accordance with my understanding:
Whatever various forms of unease there are in the world, They originate founded in encumbering accumulation. (Pārāyanavagga)'We should not congratulate someone on the success of their misdeeds, but on the contrary should endeavour to advise him or her to lead a more skilful and wholesome life. If such advice is ignored then we can only give up and let go' - Phra PanyapatipoDharma Wheel (Mahayana / Vajrayana forum)

This offering maybe right, or wrong, but it is one, the other, both, or neither!

Thanks everyone.
I thought you might be interested to read his obituary.
It has been good to read it again all these years later.

What a loss it must've been to all who knew him, especially family and friends...
May you all be well.

Michael
The thoughts I've expressed in the above post are carefully considered and offered in good faith.
And friendliness towards the world is happiness for him who is forbearing with living beings. -- Ud. 2:1
To his own ruin the fool gains knowledge, for it cleaves his head and destroys his innate goodness. -- Dhp 72
