Like this: If you shorten a life, yours will be shortened.
If you steal, your property will be stolen.
If you were a bad parent....
Or something like that.
But sometimes we just see our parents as bad...

Hello for49, all,
There are quite a few suttas and articles on Accesstoinsight about kamma and its results.
Have a read and let's talk about anything that isn't clear.

Greetings for49,
After reading the reference supplied by Chris, it might be worth asking yourself the question, how would kammic forces know who would be a good parent and a bad parent, and how to direct embryos to "the parents they deserve".
Frankly, this seems a little far fetched to me... it seems to rely on some inate sense that there must be some kind of universal justice at play... and that everything must balance out in the end.... but if you look at the references Chris provided, you'll see that this is not what kamma is about.

If you have asked me of the origination of unease, then I shall explain it to you in accordance with my understanding:
Whatever various forms of unease there are in the world, They originate founded in encumbering accumulation. (Pārāyanavagga)'We should not congratulate someone on the success of their misdeeds, but on the contrary should endeavour to advise him or her to lead a more skilful and wholesome life. If such advice is ignored then we can only give up and let go' - Phra PanyapatipoDharma Wheel (Mahayana / Vajrayana forum)
