What just happened?`

Post by LonesomeYogurt »

Anyone watching the presidential debates in America? Obama just, well...he got his ass handed to him.

What just happened?
Gain and loss, status and disgrace,
censure and praise, pleasure and pain:
these conditions among human beings are inconstant,
impermanent, subject to change.

Knowing this, the wise person, mindful,
ponders these changing conditions.
Desirable things don’t charm the mind,
undesirable ones bring no resistance.

His welcoming and rebelling are scattered,
gone to their end,
do not exist.

Whatever happened, we had better hope that he gets through, because I've heard how Romney would 'deal' with Iran if elected and it's scary stuff for the world.

I'm no fan of Obama, but at least the man has a developed cerebral cortex and is relatively sane.

Peace.

Agreed, I was just honestly blown away. I hope his next performance is better.

Although we still have to get through Biden vs. Ryan....ick.

I'm unfamiliar with that expression. Though I am thinking its probably not a good thing.
I heard snippets of the debate on the radio down here in the wilds of Tasmania.
kind regards,

If you're an Obama supporter, there is nothing to worry about. I believe Obama will win in a landslide or near landslide.

(I mention for the benefit of some who may not know the election process in the U.S.): The polls measuring all Americans are meaningless. It is the electoral votes that count and that is based on the "point" value of each state and whoever wins a specific state, wins all of the "points" / electoral votes of that state. One possible landslide scenario:

http://electoralmap.net/2012/myPredicti ... 0qo0xrwq0z" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Obama 416
Romney 122

Texas has been leaning more and more "Blue" in recent elections but even if you change the Texas count to Red and also Arizona and Florida too, then it would be:

Obama 338
Romney 200

And then further if you change Virginia and North Carolina to Red:

Obama 310
Romney 228

So, in other words, Romney has no chance.

Have some dry crackers at hand, I always find that munching on dry toasted grains alleviates feelings of nausea.

I'm actually looking forward to the Vice-pres debate, I expect there will be a few gaffes in that one from either side, if nothing else might be good for a laugh or two

Oops. I am usually pretty good at predicting the winner of U.S. presidential elections. In a last minute surge, Romney has taken over the lead in most polls. :o

This took me by complete surprise. I thought Obama would win since he had the similar "cult of personality" likability that Reagan had when Reagan won by landslide for his reelection in 1984. I guess I over-estimated Obama's likability. It is not over yet, but it is not looking good right now for Obama.

Yes, but Sampson slew 20,000 Philistines and pulled down a temple with nice hair and the jawbone of an ass.

Romney has both, so watch out.

Obama wins!!

My prediction (see above) wasn't that far off after all.

The counting is still being done but it looks like it will be:

Electoral votes:
Obama 332
Romney 206

Listening to him now.

Three cheers for the great (Irish) president, Mr O'Bama!

Quite amazing how close your prediction came, David!
