Sharing a little piece of calm with you...

Post by littlepieceofcalm »

Hi everybody, my name is Tina Ng and I am a practicing Buddhist based in Sydney.I have started a writing experiment, in which I write about my thoughts and experiences of the Buddha's teachings, but without making any direct reference to Buddhism. I have done this because I hope to reach out to a secular audience, and also I found when I used to write about Buddhism, I would simply 'hide' behind Buddhist jargon and Pali phrases. So I invite you all to my humble website, and any comments/ feedback you may have for me can be left on the site.

Hi Tina,

I have just checked it out, and I like it a lot. In fact, I have saved it as a favourite. I will be interested to see how far you can go without bringing Buddhist terminology into things. I wish you good fortune with it.

Thanks for your support Sam. I hope to keep the conversation going between readers and myself, so let me know if you have any suggested topics or feedback on any of my writings.

My latest offering is this: "Surround yourself with people who make you want to be a better person". Whole article here - http://www.littlepieceofcalm.com/better-people/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Tina

Dear Dhamma friends,

It's been over a year since I set up Little Piece of Calm, and I'm pleased to say that I'm still sharing my writings on that site. I've been able to refine my style to share my Dhamma journey without labels or using any Buddhist terminologies, and the writing itself has helped my practice in and of itself. I've received some feedback from readers who feel the writing has helped them in some way, which encourages me to continue writing.

So here I share my writings with you:

Bearing Witness to your Life
The time we spend living our life is not as often as we think. In fact, life is experienced most intimately exactly in those times when we don’t think.

Storytellers and Puppeteers
A good storyteller knows its audience, knows how to hook the attention of its audience’s imagination, and make the audience believe its story as being true...The stories that are created in our minds, on the other hand, do not require special effects or literary techniques to make them believable and enduring. Yet they can spin us into another dimension of reality, one that’s distorted in our misinterpresentation of what is really happening in front of us.
