Dear David,
You also have a retreat place at your house...so cool!! Who are the people in the room...upasakas/upasikas ??
What LV stand for?
Now I can see the Buddha statue up close..the face looks different from my Buddha statue's face..mine looks Indian.
I like your gravel landscape look like my daughter's backyard...with lots of cactus/desert plants. Her house is so close to Aliante Casino..I could see the sun rising behind the big mountain near by while standing on her second floor balcony. I love Vegas too.
We visited our daughter many times...Love all the casino display lights at night very much.

Your place looks so lovely/peaceful :candle:

David

Are you running retreats in your house?
The replica is wonderful!
May I ask whether you have found meditation teachers to whom you can have face to face access if required to receive guidance in meditation ? Anumodana to you and may all aspirations be fulfilled.

Thanks. We have had Bhikkhuni Vimala, Bhante Saranapala, and Bhante Sujatha lead 3 different retreats, so far.

Ajahn Brahm in Las Vegas!

Post by DNS »

Ajahn Brahm is in Las Vegas speaking at the Healthcare Professionals of Southern Nevada meeting, organized by Dr. Mailika. While he was here in Las Vegas he made time to come by my place, Maha Bodhi Las Vegas for lunch and a Dhamma program. He was well-received and the Buddhists here were very happy to meet this famous monk. I had the chance to have some nice talks with him about jhanas and other Dhamma matters. It was truly a treat to have him here in Las Vegas.

I should be able to upload some videos soon with excerpts from his Dhamma talks here.

That's great David.

I like the way you have the same haircut and glasses.

Now you just need to work on the smile... :D

Excerpt from the Dhamma talk.

At around the 2:40 mark, I ask Ajahn Brahm if one needs to go through the rupa-jhanas to reach the arūpa-jhānas/realms and he confirms that one must proceed to the arūpa realms via the jhanas.

Short excerpt from the Dhamma talk.

At around 2:45 mark, Ajahn Brahm tells me to "get lost" as a "compliment."
After that I ask Ajahn Brahm if Ajahn Chah was an arahant.
