Happy Birthday M8
Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Happy birthday! May you meet with every success!

Usually, I'm not really joyful when it comes to my birthday. It's the most typical day where I ask myself how I put this life to use, what I've done the last year and recollect how death is approaching. Well.

I've lost about 14kg / 31lbs this year and did a great deal about sloth and torpor. I stayed celibate for several months and much of the suffering that was due to lust is just gone now. I read a great deal of suttas this year but one of the things which turned out especially precious certainly was the company of you people here.
This year had some tough and intense moments, some hurtful experiences but you guys often helped by giving me the inspiration to not get lost in the dark, by pointing to the Dhamma, by showing a new perspective and just by being kind and compassionate. I'm glad that you walked along the path with me this past year and I feel truly humbled for having the chance to be in the company of the many good people here. I greatly appreciate not just the time you took to gratulate me, but for all the kindness and energy that you invested in me and everyone else here. Thank you very much. :anjali:

Best wishes,
Alobha

PS: Needless to say, my birthday was a very joyful occassion of recollecting the many acts of kindness I witnessed both from myself and from others!
