It is also difficult, I am telling you... living in mud and noise and whatnot... and having evening chantings in a soaking wet tent.

But generally I have been fortunate enough to have place to escape the hassle of building.

Just curious, Bhante Thanavuddho, how is it you have access to the internet? I thought WPN was quite strict about not accessing the Net, more so for young monks.

Greetings pilgrim,

I am not staying in WPN. This monastery is a new branch of WMJ in Ubon. Probably in WPN I would not be able to access the Internet. I did stay with WPN monks last year and the senior monk did allow me to use the Internet, but with conditions :)

Recently I opened the internet access because I needed to find some information, and it has been open from then on.

I am willing to close the Internet if I have to. I might close it in order to practice more meditation, and to set a good example for other monks.

I really enjoyed this documentary and I'm happy for you, bhante!

Do you know if WMJ is still accepting westerners for ordination?

Short answer is yes.

After my ordination many more westeners have ordained at WMJ. You should contact WMJ first and ask for instructions. There are other places to ordain if WMJ is not suitable. IMO Wat Pah Nanachat is a very good place to ordain.
