kaa uppatti?

Post by geo »

Hi, I have been trying to translate parts of the Khuddaka a.t.thakathaa.

I can't come up with a good translation for:

kaa uppatti? It occurs over and over again.

I have thought maybe, "From where does it come?"

e.g. KN-a Sn, , 1. uragavaggo, 1. uragasuttavaṇṇanā, para. 84 ⇒5. ti kā uppatti?

Thanks, geo

Hi geo,

Yes, Margaret Cone's dictionary explains 'uppatti' as:

f. 1. arising, coming into being, birth;
2. giving rise to, production; genesis, origin.

Wishing you success with the translation.
