What is the meaning of MANI ?

Post by wtSky »

In the book of "What the Buddha taught" wriiten by Walpola Rahula,
there is a verse beginning with
"To MANI" followed by..."The gift of Truth excels all other gifts".

Pali dictioanry says 'mani' is a kind of jewel, but it seems like a name!
Please let me know what' it is. :coffee: :?:

Without being 100% sure as I don't know the context, I would guess that this is a stilistic form of expressing that this verse is dedicated to the triple gem - i.e. the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Sangha.
Others may correct me if I'm wrong.
