Textual analysis and comparative discussion on early Buddhist sects and texts.

Hi all!
I am looking for a quotation from the discourses that I remember reading in one of Venerable Nanananda's books. I believe it was The Magic of the Mind, though it could have been Concept and Reality or the Nibbana sermons, and less probably, Towards Calm and Insight, Towards a Better World, or Seeing Through. The quote had something to do with gaining insight by examining the detailed meaning of short statements. Anyone know of this? Any help is much appreciated! Thank you!
