A Whole Book on Meditation by Thanissaro Bhikkhu

Post by Goob »

Hey!

Since ven. Thanissaro's last book on mindfulness and Sati got so much attention here on the boards I thought I'd link to his new book dealing more specifically with the intricacies of his particular method of meditation - 'With Each & Every Breath'! Published a couple of days ago, it's a real page-turner, I'm sure.

Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Thanks a lot for pointing this out. This looks very good, and covers jhana practice, which is not as common in meditation manuals I have seen.

I've been waiting for him to make a book like this. As much as I appreciate his constant quoting of the Suttas, it gives the book a disjointed feeling.
