If you look at the bottom of the Home page you will find a map showing visitor locations. If there are spots near you, it's worth taking the next step.
Rather than a search, which we can't do at this stage anyway, how about starting a new thread in the Lounge? "Anyone here from [insert location]? Want to meet?"
If you just want to meet real live Buddhists, though, you may be better off looking for an existing group in your area.

i try searching for existing groups
and i actually attendant one
studying suttas, we only discuss the sutta we study
and not what each of us was interested in discussing like a topic.
and there is only one group like this in new york regarding Theravada .
these people in the group are not from the forum.
i also found some temples, but most of the monks don't speak good enough English to teach.
i found some meditation center but they charge money to attend retreat.
nearest goenka retreat from me is 4 hours away driving.
it would be very nice for individual people to make friends in the nearest area.
not only this will form a friendship but it will form a stronger interest in dhamma.
metta.

Hi Gena1480,

I'm not sure what group you have been participating with but http://www.dnymc.org/ is a good group which practice in the tradition of Ajahn Thanissaro. They have sutta study, retreats (no, they are not free), and a variety of other classes. Also, there is NYIMC and a few other groups. Let me know if you are already familiar with these groups as I am also familiar with a few more. Be well!

Good idea maybe you could create a group and advertise it.

As you may know the group charges a $5 fee for the drop-in Sunday night class to cover the cost of renting the space-rents in Manhattan are a little high but you can expect to pay at least $5 on a coffee if you intend to meet your friends in a Starbucks (I doubt that anyone will be inviting people over to their apartments directly from an internet forum without meeting them first--I know I wouldn't do it).

There are a number of groups on Meetup that are free that you may want to check out. In addition, feel free to post a request to meet up for local people in the Lounge if you like. Mettaya.

How come the dot on Alice Springs is so big? It indicates 1000+.
Maybe there's a secret underground community of recluses living in a system of caverns to avoid heat and the notice of the world.
Then,
saturated with joy,
you will put an end to suffering and stress.

There are daylong retreats that are much less at both DNYMC and NYIMC.
