Kind of defines attachment, no?
Now having obtained a precious human body,
I do not have the luxury of remaining on a distracted path.

Dear Bhikkhu Pesala,

So far..I'm quite lucky in love...I already have 22 gem rings...and my daughter just bought an Arabian ring and got it engraved 'love mom' for me...make it #23...my husband/daughter sure do love me..AND I THANK THE BUDDHA...BECAUSE I FOLLOW HIS TEACHING...WHAT A WIFE SHOULD DO..WHAT A MOTHER SHOULD DO.

Dear Yawares,

I want to say that I appreciate your posts, I think that they're very open. It's always good for practice.

I don't have any ring to give... but I like the triple gem.

I like reading your posts. Usually it's something simple & happy & I'm sure that a lot of us could use a bit more of that in our life. I'll serenade the missus for you & if the neighbours complain I'll blame one of the kids.

After my previous experiences, I'm very hesitant to get involved with any woman, for fear of the 'suffer ring' that the Venerable mentioned. But I do have a cat who lives with me, maybe I could give her some chopped liver today as a special treat :pig: She would certainly love me mucho mucho for that... :D

But I'm truly happy for you, Yarawes. A household where husband and wife are both Buddhist must be much more harmonious and peaceful than what I experienced. I wish you many beautiful ornaments, both the physical ones and the 'ornaments for the mind'. I hope that you and your husband can walk the Path together.

I don't think anyone here would dispute that. Regarding the physical ones though:
"In five ways, young householder, should a wife as the West be ministered to by a husband:

(i) by being courteous to her,
(ii) by not despising her,
(iii) by being faithful to her,
(iv) by handing over authority to her,
(v) by providing her with adornments.
"The wife thus ministered to as the West by her husband shows her compassion to her husband in five ways:

(i) she performs her duties well,
(ii) she is hospitable to relations and attendants[10]
(iii) she is faithful,
(iv) she protects what he brings,
(v) she is skilled and industrious in discharging her duties.
"In these five ways does the wife show her compassion to her husband who ministers to her as the West. Thus is the West covered by him and made safe and secure.

(from the Sigalovada Sutta: The Discourse to Sigala
http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka ... .nara.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So it seems to me, it's ok for a husband to 'provide adornments' for his wife...

Dear Members....more beautiful gem jewelry/information for gem-lovers.

Image

Tourmaline is classified as a semi-precious stone and the gemstone comes in a wide variety of colors. The name comes from the Sinhalese word "Thuramali" (තුරමලි) or "Thoramalli" (තෝරමල්ලි), which applied to different gemstones found in Sri Lanka, Brazil, USA.

Brazilian untreated bi-color tourmaline Mined and cut in Brazil..very expensive!
